and the Northern Lights Singers

Swedish-American choruses, based in Fairfield, Connecticut.

Unfortunately, we disbanded in 2015. But, we are leaving information about us here for a while.

If you are looking for Swedish singers and musicians, please contact
Ken and Ellen Svengalis
, members of the choruses.

The North Star Singers

Founded in 1933, North Star joined the American Union of Swedish Singers in 1935. We have participated in A.U.S.S. singing festivals and conventions in major cities throughout the country. Some highlights from the past have been: recording a record album of Swedish songs at the invitation of RCA Victor, singing at a special festival in the General Assembly Hall of the United Nations for an audience of over 3000 staff members, and performing with other A.U.S.S. singers at Avery Fisher Hall in New York City in the presence of King Carl XVI Gustaf of Sweden during the United States Bicentennial celebration.

The Northern Light Singers

Founded in 1990, the Northern Lights joined the American Union of Swedish Singers in 1992. We have sung for local Scandinavian organizations and other groups interested in Swedish songs, such as the Swedish Welfare Association, Wednesday Afternoon Music Club and World Fest in Stamford, CT. We have participated in all A.U.S.S. singing festivals and conventions throughout the country.

In July, 2002, our two choruses hosted the Eastern Division convention of the American Union of Swedish Singers. To read about it, click here.

In 2012, we co-hosted the National Convention of the American Union of Swedish Singers in New Haven.
